Notes

I have encountered an unusual number of problems in tracing the family lines shown on this page.  It seems as though in many cases a more illustrious (or at least more extended) pedigree is being claimed than is warranted.

1) Lieut. Thomas Tracy (#16) definitely does not have the aristocratic lineage widely claimed for him.  His real parentage is unknown.

2) The parents of William Baker (#6) cannot be clearly identified.  He is sometimes shown as the youngest son of John Baker and Susannah Martin of Woburn, MA, who were married in 1654, sometimes as the son of John Baker who was born in Boston in 1653 and was the son of William Baker and Mary Eddington, and sometimes as the son of William and Eleanor Baker of Gloucester, MA.

3) The wife of Francis Griswold (#18) is sometimes identified as Mary Tracy (1630-55), daughter of Stephen Tracy of Plymouth, MA, but this does not seem to be the case.

4) Thomas Parish (#20) is another one with a choice of parents.  He sometimes is listed as the son of Thomas and Margaret Parish, with a line going back to William Paryse of Norfolk in the 1400s.

5) The wife of Thomas Parish is shown in most Parish listings as Mary Danforth, daughter of Nicholas Danforth and Elizabeth Symmes.  However, all the Danforth listings say that Mary died in England c. 1635.

6) The Spencer line is the only one left with a medievel pedigree that seems reliable enough to put up here -- but at this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see that debunked as well.
